Marissa G. Kiefer, MHSA, was appointed President, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s and UH MacDonald Women’s hospitals in June 2025. UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital has been a trusted leader in pediatric health care for more than 130 years, consistently ranking among the top children’s hospitals in the nation. Founded in 1891, UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital is one of only 11 full-service women’s hospitals in the country and the only hospital in Ohio dedicated solely to women’s health.
A nationally respected healthcare leader with a deep and lasting commitment to pediatric and women’s health, Ms. Kiefer most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas—a 332-bed quaternary care women’s and children’s hospital with more than 40 specialties and world-renowned programs in fetal medicine, high-risk maternal care, pediatric neurosciences, congenital cardiac care and trauma.
Prior to joining Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, Ms. Kiefer held leadership roles at Riley Children’s Health, the largest pediatric health system in Indiana; Indiana University Health Physicians, the state’s most comprehensive multi-specialty physician group; and Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC, where she began her career.
Ms. Kiefer is a member of the Children’s Hospital Association Public Policy Committee and the Executive Exchange Steering Committee and serves on the Board of Solutions for Patient Safety, a network of 150+ pediatric hospitals working together to eliminate serious harm across all children’s hospitals. She also serves on the Carol Emmott Network Governing Council.
Ms. Kiefer received her bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Indiana University and her master’s degree in Health Services Administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
