Cate Collins, MD
Cate Collins is the associate clinical director of SPS and a pediatrician at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, where she also serves as the hospital-acquired conditions co-chair.
Dr. Collins earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington in St. Louis before completing medical school at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She then pursued residency at Lurie Children’s Hospital, followed by fellowships in pediatric critical care medicine and cardiology at Seattle Children’s Hospital. In 2019, Dr. Collins joined the faculty at Lurie Children’s Hospital as a cardiac intensivist.
With a strong commitment to patient safety and quality improvement, Dr. Collins initially championed local quality initiatives within the Cardiac Care Unit and has since expanded her leadership to hospital-wide efforts aimed at reducing patient harm. As the hospital-acquired conditions co-chair, she focuses on proactive safety measures, with a special interest in reducing CLABSI, pressure injuries, and surgical site infections.
Dr. Collins is also a faculty member at the Center for Quality and Safety at Lurie Children’s and is passionate about advancing initiatives to eliminate serious harm in pediatric healthcare. She is excited to join the SPS leadership team to further the mission of eliminating serious harm across all children’s hospitals.
