Advocate Children's Hospital Celebrates Safety Week 2026

SPS is celebrating Patient and Employee Safety Week on March 8-14! In celebration of #SPSsafetyweek2026, we’re highlighting the awesome patient and employee safety improvement work within our organizations! Next up is Advocate Children’s Hospital!

At Advocate Children’s Hospital, teams across multiple units and campuses are demonstrating what sustained focus and shared ownership can achieve in infection prevention.

Several high-acuity units have reached impressive CLABSI-free milestones (as of March 6). On the Oak Lawn campus, the “4 Hope” Hematology/Oncology Unit has remained CLABSI-free for 476 days. At the Park Ridge campus, the PICU has achieved 366 days CLABSI-free, reflecting consistent practice and strong teamwork in complex care environments.

Advocate Children’s has also seen remarkable long-term success in CAUTI prevention, with multiple units reaching milestone anniversaries:

  • 2 Hope: 13 years CAUTI-free

  • NICU (Oak Lawn): 12 years CAUTI-free

  • Pediatrics (Park Ridge): 7 years CAUTI-free

  • PCICU and 4 Hope: 5 years CAUTI-free

  • PICU (Park Ridge): 3 years CAUTI-free

  • NICU (Park Ridge): 1 year CAUTI-free

Adding to these achievements, Advocate Children’s has reached 16 months with zero serious PIVIEs across the organization.

During Safety Week, we’re proud to spotlight the teams behind these milestones. Their commitment to reliability, collaboration, and vigilance continues to create safer care for children and families every day.
