Seattle Children's Hospital Celebrates Safety Week 2024

SPS is celebrating Safety Week on March 10-16! In celebration of #SPSsafetyweek2024, we’re highlighting the awesome patient and employee safety improvement work going on within our organizations! Next up is Seattle Children's Hospital!

Safety is foundational to the work at Seattle Children’s. One of the ways they celebrate and reinforce their commitment to providing safe, quality care to every patient, every time is through Safety Week at their hospital.

Historically, Seattle Children’s has observed the National Patient Safety Awareness Week as way to grow more awareness about patient safety and highlight safety and quality improvement work. With their steadfast commitment to health equity and anti-racism and elevating quality and safety to produce the best outcomes for patients and their families, they’ve changed their approach to Safety Week by being more intentional and inclusive of what safety is at Seattle Children’s.

Each weekday features a different safety theme:

  • Monday, March 11: "Mapping the Course" initiates the journey toward safety excellence.

  • Tuesday, March 12: "Pack the Essentials" ensures everyone is equipped for success.

  • Wednesday, March 13: "Using the Compass" guides with data-driven precision.

  • Thursday, March 14: "Pause and Refuel" emphasizes self-care and connection.

  • Friday, March 15 to Sunday, March 17: "Enjoy the View" allows time to reflect, celebrate and reinforce commitment to safety and excellence.

Activities include:

  • Promotional Packet to share with all units and departments

  • Promotional booth with games and prizes

  • Connection Cart with Patient Safety Team

  • Virtual activities such as daily quizzes and hidden word challenge

Congratulations to Lynn Tran, Rachael Pickard, Shanda Johnson, Johanna Sánchez, Cassie Flynn, Riley Flynn who worked on this project.
